IACS & Global Poets
The International Asian Culture Society (IACS) hosted the Global Poets Poetry Conference, an initiative originally founded by Dr. David Austell, Executive Director of Columbia University’s International Students and Scholars Office, Vice Provost, and Associate Professor at the School of Education. Dr. Austell has passionately managed Global Poets for 20 years, driven by his love for poetry, art, and culture. Trusting IACS’s dedication to cultural promotion, he entrusted them with the responsibility of managing Global Poets, leading to this inaugural poetry conference under IACS's leadership.
Event Highlights
Performance by Elina GeorgiouElina Georgiou, a clarinetist from Cyprus and a graduate student at the Manhattan School of Music, performed both a musical piece and recited the Spanish poem Hourglass. Through the combination of music and poetry, she conveyed a message of hope and resilience even in times of adversity.
