Tsinghua University Dialogue – Shenzhen: Cultural Diplomacy and Music Therapy

The Tsinghua University Dialogue in Shenzhen convened scholars, practitioners, and cultural leaders to reflect on the intersections of diplomacy, art, and social responsibility. Co-founders of the International Asian Culture Society (IACS), Paolo Sun and Peng Guan, contributed by discussing the organization’s mission to bridge cultures through art, education, and dialogue.

In his remarks, Paolo Sun presented his research on music therapy for refugees, demonstrating how musical expression can provide healing, resilience, and cross-cultural connection for displaced communities. This work exemplifies the growing recognition of art not only as cultural heritage but also as a tool for humanitarian response and social integration.

Peng Guan emphasized the IACS vision of cultural diplomacy as a bridge between East and West, highlighting the organization’s initiatives that use art, performance, and education to foster mutual understanding.
